Services

Whether it's a full interior renovation, exterior restoration, or the careful revival of wood windows and historic trim, every project gets the same thing: my full attention from permit to final finish. I specialize in the kind of work that requires patience and precision — particularly on antique homes where shortcuts aren't an option.

Serving the South Shore and surrounding areas.

About Me

GT Knoff headshot

After nearly 30 years in marketing, consulting for and partnering with clients across industries, I always found my real sense of purpose somewhere else entirely.

In the garage. On a ladder. With a hand plane.

Maybe it's because builders ran deep on my mother's side. Maybe it's because I watched too much This Old House — something my wife will happily confirm. Or maybe it's because early in homeownership I discovered what most people eventually learn: finding a contractor who genuinely wants to do the work, communicates well, and takes real pride in the result is harder than it should be.

That drive to learn by doing took me to some meaningful places along the way. From spending time as lead finish painter at The Charlotte Inn in Edgartown, one of Martha's Vineyard's most celebrated historic properties, to raising a timber frame in Maine — those experiences and others have sharpened an eye for craft and precision that informs everything I do.

For the past 15 years I've been doing, learning, doing more, and learning more, all while my wife and I continue to restore and refine our own home, built in 1741. That house has been my classroom, my proving ground, and my greatest project.

When passion becomes a profession, it changes how you show up. Here's what that looks like for me:

  • I'll call you back. Every time.

  • I respect your time. No ghost estimates, no chasing me for follow-ups.

  • I'll be honest about fit. If a project isn't right for either of us, I'll tell you — and I'll do my best to point you toward someone who can help.

  • No project is too small. Thirty years of client work taught me that small projects done well are how long relationships start.

  • I don't cut corners on your home any more than I would on my own.

  • Old homes are welcome here. The older the better, honestly.

Every good project starts with a conversation. I'd love to have one.
